The 2025 World Pool Championship begins tomorrow, Monday 21 July, in Jeddah for the second consecutive year. It brings together 128 elite players from more than 40 countries. Matches run from 21 to 26 July 2025 at the Green Halls, jointly organized by the Saudi Billiards and Snooker Federation and Matchroom under the Ministry of Sport.
This year's edition features a strong international field led by American world champion Fedor Gorst, alongside Spain's Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, American Shane Van Boening, Filipino Carlo Biado, Germany's Joshua Filler, Taiwan's Ko Pin-Yi, Britain's Jayson Shaw, and Filipino Johann Chua.
The field also includes World Nineball Tour professionals, players invited by the World Pool-Billiard Association, qualifiers from international open trials, and several Saudi players.
Competition opens tomorrow, Monday, with 32 race-to-nine matches involving 64 players. The first matches start at 7:30 p.m.
Countries strongly represented include the United States, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Philippines, Poland and Britain, with notable participation from Bahrain, Kuwait, Syria, Turkey and New Zealand. This reflects the championship's growing international reach and the Ministry of Sport's efforts to attract major global events under Saudi Vision 2030, establishing the Kingdom as a leading host of international sporting occasions.
